Claresholm Child Care Society

Along with running a Daycare for ages 0 months - 5 years, we also have an Out-of-School Program for children ages Kindergarten to Grade 6.

Our Out-of-School Program - Kidz Zone - is conveniently located across the parking lot from West Meadow Elementary School; which allows for children to be walked to and from school each day.  We run a full day program for Kindergarten children on their opposite days of school.  The Kidz Zone also runs a full day program on school PD days and week long breaks.

Kidz Zone’s purpose is to meet each child’s social, physical, intellectual, creative and emotional needs. The program focuses care in both a family grouping and age grouping. This provides the children with one group, which he/she can feel a part of and one staff member whom they can depend on as theirs. During free play the children are encouraged to move through the various play centers and are encouraged to interact with a variety of children.

 

Programs are planned on weekly and bi-weekly themes, but are flexible to adapt to the children’s individual interests. Staff members are responsible for planning and implementing activities that meet the age groups developmental needs. Each day includes times for gross motor activities (climbing, running, and jumping), fine motor (creative activities, manipulative toys, puzzles) and quiet time (reading books, computer games).

 

Kidz Zone believes that children learn best through well-planned activities in which they take part at their own pace and in their own ways. The role of the adult is to stimulate children’s thinking, enjoyment, sense of their uniqueness and their place in the program. At all times the aim is to foster a child’s positive self-concept around a relaxed and flexible schedule.

Hours of Operation are Monday through Friday, 6:30am-5:30pm; excluding Statutory Holidays.
